August 23, 2019 – Los Angeles – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is pleased to announce Crown & Anchor Lions Football Club as a member kicking off with the 2019 Fall Season.

Based in Thousand Oaks (Calif.), Crown & Anchor Lions FC will begin UPSL play in Western Conference SoCal Division III and host its UPSL homes games in compliance with UPSL's Minimum Standards.

United Premier Soccer League SoCal Division III Manager Oliquer Olivar said, "It's an exciting time for Division III in Southern California with teams entering and looking to work their way to promotion to Division II, which is what the UPSL is all about. The UPSL is where players and clubs who like Crown & Anchor Lions FC can have a place to start in Division III and work their way to find their own level. It'll be great to see what Scott Williams, Josh Chaproniere and the folks at Crown & Anchor can do, and we wish them the best of luck as they prepare for the Fall Season."

Crown & Anchor Lions FC recently completed its fifth championship season in the Simi Valley (Calif.)-based California Champions League, and also operate a popular Men's Over-50 team.

Scott Williams is the General Manager and Head Coach of Crown & Anchor Lions FC. Born in England, Williams served in the U.S. Navy (Ret.), and has been in his current position with the club for four years.

Crown & Anchor Lions FC General Manager Scott Williams said, "It has been and is an honor to manage the Crown & Anchor Lions FC. Being promoted to the UPSL and joining the semi-professional ranks is a massive achievement for our club, and we will look to do our supporters proud. I'd like to thank our Captain Tom Harris and Assistant Manager Josh Chaproniere, they have been fantastic servants of our club and we would not be where we are today without their efforts. I want to thank every player that has worn the 'Famous' Red Shirt past and present; they have given blood, sweat and tears for the cause, this is for you. I hope that we have made the patriarch of our great club, Andy Gillespie, and long-time manager Joe Henderson proud - without them there would be no Crown & Anchor FC. Lastly, I'd like to thank the wives of the players for all of their support, especially my beautiful wife Jennifer who has had to put up with an insanely passionate football man, without your love and support we would not be here. We're ready for this challenge and we will march on with the Heart of a Lion. Up the UPSL RedMen! Oooooooh, To Be A Lion!"

Josh Chaproniere serves as Assistant Manager for Crown & Anchor Lions FC. A native of Ludlow, England, Chaproniere, has been with the team for three years.

Tom Harris, a former West Brom (England) youth player, has been captain of Crown & Anchor Lions FC for four years and will continue in his role as the team transitions into the UPSL.

The club soon will announce its upcoming game schedule.
